Planning set ups for a Newborn Session | Boston Newborn Photos

When a family books a Classic Newborn Session with me, one of the first things I do is ask about color preferences and overall vibe. Some moms love soft neutrals, some want creamy whites, and some (like this sweet family) know right away that they’re drawn to pink and ivory. That input matters. It helps me walk into the studio with intention instead of guessing. My goal is always to create a session that feels cohesive and personal, not random.

For this baby girl’s session, mom requested pinks with soft ivory accents. That guided everything. I pulled delicate floral layers, textured wraps, and one of my favorite baskets with floral detailing that worked beautifully with her palette. The floral basket setup was styled first, with soft peachy/pink underneath and gentle pink tones woven in. It created a look that felt sweet and feminine without being overwhelming.

We also incorporated the moon prop, which is always such a beautiful focal piece. To keep it aligned with the color story, I wrapped baby in a pale pink and kept the surrounding textures in the pink palette. When I placed her on the pink blanket setup, I made sure the shade complemented her skin tone and worked seamlessly with the ivory outfit. Everything connected back to mom’s original request so the gallery would feel polished and intentional from start to finish.

That’s the beauty of a Classic Newborn Session. There’s room for variety while still honoring exactly what parents envision. When moms tell me what they love, I can build around that and create a collection that feels like it was made just for them.
