Kind words from Boston-area parents
“Working with Ann is so effortless for busy parents. She comes up with unique, adorable poses for your baby, and has everything needed to make the pictures beautiful.”
— Elizabeth“All we needed to do was show-up, which was such a relief as a parent with a newborn…I was able to relax and just observe everything!”
“Ann makes the experience of leaving the house right after having a baby very comfortable…the images that Ann delivers are gorgeous. We have several portraits on display in our home and have recommended her to expecting friends.”
— Bri— LeanneYour Newborn Session Experience
Newborn sessions are easy, unhurried, and designed to be an enjoyable experience for new parents. Below you’ll find everything you need to know—from what to expect to session options and pricing.
What to Expect during your Newborn Session
My newborn studio is located in Framingham, MA, about 20 miles from Boston. The studio is designed with new parents in mind. I have changing tables, extra diapers, wipes, bottle warmers, and lots of other extras.
Your newborn session will be fully set up before you arrive. All you need to do is show up. Before the session, we will work together on your favorite colors and ideas. Using those thoughts, I will set scenes, blankets and outfits based on your style.
Sessions are calm and unhurried, allowing time for feeding, soothing, and breaks as needed. I guide you through the entire process, creating a variety of newborn portraits using wraps, blankets, and simple props.
During your session, I'll create a variety of newborn portraits, from simple, natural images to more styled setups depending on your preferences. Family portraits are relaxed and focused on connection.
After your session, you will receive an online selection gallery to choose your favorite images. Your selections will be professionally retouched and delivered within two weeks in both color and black & white. Additional images and printed artwork are also available.
What to Bring to your Newborn Session
Most parents bring very little to their session. A diaper bag and feeding supplies are all you typically need.
Everything else is provided, including wraps, blankets, and accessories. You’re welcome to bring a special item if you’d like to include something meaningful, but it’s not required.
You may also want to bring a few things for yourself, like snacks or anything that will help you feel comfortable during your time at the studio.
Posing and Style
Newborn sessions are guided with classic posing, with the option to keep things simple and natural or include more styled setups, depending on your preference. Some families love a clean, minimal look, while others enjoy more detailed props and themed setups—this is your session, and we’ll plan it to match your style.
While each session is guided, nothing feels stiff or overly posed. We also create natural, connected images, especially during parent and sibling portraits.

Frequently Asked Questions about Newborn Sessions
-
Ideally, you should reserve a spot in my calendar 4-5 months before your due date; however, I hold a few open spaces a month, so please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have already had your baby.
-
Contact me via the contact page or this webpage. I’ll send you information on how to make a session reservation based on your due date.
Keep in mind, babies rarely arrive on their due date, and I plan for that. Once your baby arrives, we will arrange the actual session date and time.
-
Newborn sessions with classic posing are best completed when the baby is 2-3 weeks old, while babies are still very sleepy and naturally curl into those classic newborn positions.
Don’t worry - If your baby is older than 3 weeks, you’re not too late. Please reach out, we can create a custom session or I’ll guide you to another session that will work best for your baby’s age.

A studio session is designed to make the entire experience easier for new parents.
Everything is ready when you arrive. The studio is a warm and comfortable space for you and your baby, with a full selection of wraps, props, and accessories, so you don’t need to prepare anything at home. You can simply walk in, settle in, and let me take care of the rest.
While I guide each session with classic newborn posing, the experience never feels stiff or overly posed. We also create a number of natural, connected images of your baby and family. These are similar to a lifestyle feel, but without the stress of preparing your home or managing the session yourself.
-
